When I first went to personal training with Emily I was in terrible shape and still recovering from my injury. I could barely walk – let alone do steps, squats and sit-ups. I’ve been training with Emily for over two years now and I’m actually blown away by the progress I’ve made.

 

We do push ups, pull ups, box jumps, single legged box jumps, sprints, shuttle runs… I could go on and on! Because of Em, I’m at the stage where I’m actually FITTER than I was before my accident and I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to train with Em.

I started with Emily almost a year after having my second baby by caesarean, and five months after having a knee operation. I was very unfit and my muscles were WEAK!

 

My first session was rough, I attended one day a week for six weeks until I started going twice a week, now three times a week. To be perfectly honest, it got addictive!

 

Emily motivates you to just keep trying; keep trying and you will be able to push yourself just that little bit further everyday! Once upon a time (a little over 2 years ago) my friend convinced me to come to a fitness group, run out of a garage. “Come” she said, “It will be fun” she said. And on that first day I thought I might actually die, but I didn’t. I got a massive buzz from surviving. So I went back, and then I kept going back.

 

I kept going back so often that now it feels like home. Since the garage days, things have changed, Em has changed and so have I.

 

Now we have the studio, it’s like my second home. It’s a place of pain, but it’s a place that I can’t live without. Em has dragged me, often kicking and screaming (look, let’s be honest, often swearing) through the last year. We’ve come a long way from the backwards crab crawl incident at the beach (that’s a long story) and now I feel confident and like I actually know what I’m doing. Coming to the studio is a usual part of my week, and being part of the EMpower Fitness and Nutrition family is something I truly appreciate.

 

Em as a coach is one of my most appreciated resources. She is approachable and always around to consult with (and to keep you honest). Most of all she is supportive and your goals are hers. She always notices when you improve, she is always encouraging you try something new, something harder, to push further toward your goals.

Since training with Em I have reduced my surfboard size from an 8ft to a 6’6, a HUGE accomplishment. I vowed to myself that after each baby I would get myself back to a pre-pregnancy weight before I had another baby. I managed it both times before, with exercise and watching my food intake. But this time was very different. This was definitely my last baby. I wanted to do it better. From 1st April, the day after he was born, I ate really really well, not just less. And I started moving!! But mostly, training with you has changed my body. I’m leaner and fitter than ever. In just two 30 minute sessions a week! Not a daily something that I just don’t have time for with 3 bonkers boys to take care of (make that 4 bonkers boys!). Every session is ‘fun’ & different. I love how strong I feel. You’ve made this relatively short 11 week journey, a powerful one!! On top of that…you altered my sessions swiftly when I injured myself, and pointed me in the right direction to get musculoskeletal therapy for that injury. I appreciate the nutritional gems you have passed on too…they’ve helped my fatigue and raised my energy.

Recently diagnosed with two stomach ulcers, a biopsy also detected the H Pylori  bug in my gut.  I had already been suffering from viral arthritis for over four years and the stomach ulcers were caused by the arthritis medication.  I saw my local doctor who recommended that I keep taking the arthritis medication but also take other medication to repair the ulcers. I was also advised to take medication to combat the H Pylori bug.  I decided to go to Emily for a complete overhaul of my diet and to also help me with my inflamed joints.

 

Emily’s initial consult was so professional and detailed. She compiled a full medical history of all my symptoms and then combated each symptom one at a time. We first dealt with the ulcers through diet and supplements. Second on the list was the bug in my gut, which was tackled with antibiotics and a controlled diet. Finally we looked at the arthritis, which was causing the most pain and limiting my ability to do any upper body exercise or lifting.  As I’m usually a very active person, this was so frustrating.  But with Emily’s help I am now free of my ulcers, the bug gut and best of all, my arthritis.

 

Emily has been a constant source of knowledge, patience and expertise.  She is very professional and her follow up service is first class.

 

I have started exercising again and my outlook on food and diet has been completely transformed thanks to Emily.  Her explanation of the whole process has been easy to understand and follow.
